How to Pack Light for a Two-Week Trip

I used to travel with a massive checked bag and spend the first hour of every trip rearranging things I never ended up using. Two years ago, I committed to carry-on only for a two-week trip through southern Europe — and I have never gone back. Packing light is not about deprivation. It is about clarity. When you carry less, you move easier, think clearer, and enjoy more.

The essentials-only approach

Choose versatile, neutral clothing that layers well. Pack three bottoms, five tops, one dress or smart layer, and one pair of comfortable walking shoes. Toiletries in solid form save weight and pass security without drama. Leave space for one small souvenir. The rest, you can wash or buy. Two weeks fits in less than you think — and your shoulders will thank you.
